UMHLANGA ROCKS – The Lighthouse Area
One of the most accessible and productive rock and surf fishing spots in Durban. The area around the Umhlanga Lighthouse offers deep water close to shore, making it ideal for both edibles and inedibles. Best fished early morning or late afternoon. Target species include shad (elf), bronze bream, and occasionally diamond rays.
USHAKA BEACH / ADDINGTON BEACH
Located right in front of uShaka Marine World, this beach offers excellent surf fishing for edibles. The gullies along this stretch hold shad, stumpnose, and grunter.
THE BLUFF – Brighton Beach to Cave Rock
The Bluff offers some of the most diverse rock and surf fishing in KZN. The rocky shoreline is known for producing big fish, crayfish and musselcracker.
WESTBROOK BEACH (North of Durban)
About 30 minutes north of Durban, Westbrook Beach is a hidden gem for surf fishing. Good gullies producing shad, pompano, and sand shark.
ISIPINGO BEACH (South of Durban)
Mix of sandy beaches and rocky outcrops. Target shad, grunter, and the occasional kingfish.
